Night Watcher

Most of the thoughts and inspirations for the poems I have written so far came to me when I sat by my window, looking out at the pitch-black, silent night sky.

One of those I wrote is called “Night Watcher,” which portrays the paradoxical emotions and thoughts that seem to always reside within me.

Night Watcher

What does it feel like to watch the night in silence?

It feels like longing for something,

yet surrendering to everything.

It feels like dwelling in place,

yet drifting through space.

It feels like I am here —

yet not here.

It feels like being homesick

for a place I have never been before.

It feels like being melancholically happy,

yet delightfully aching.

It feels like holding on,

and letting go —

all at once.
